The smartphone in sub-Saharan Africa: current and forecast statistical data (2022 – 2030)
According to GSMA’s “The Mobile Economy 2023” report, the world had 5.4 billion unique subscribers to mobile networks, all generations combined, at the end of 2022. This figure is expected to reach 6.3 billion by 2030. Sub-Saharan Africa and India will account for almost half of the new subscribers in the world by the end of the decade, and it is especially young people and rural populations who will constitute the largest contingents of new subscribers.
