Senegal: Expresso launches its 4G which will be accessible to consumers on March 31
Fatou Sow Kane, the director of the commercial pole – company of the mobile operator Expresso, announced on March 3, 2020 the technical launch of 4G by the company. However, the network will not be accessible to consumers until March 31.
“With this 4G Expresso, the experience will be even better in terms of connection, speed and reliability,” said Fatou Sow Kane.
The launch of 4G by Expresso reflects the investment made by the Senegalese subsidiary of the Sudanese telecoms group Sudatel to regain lost market shares, since 2018, with the launch of 4G by Sonatel, the big competitor, followed by Free in 2019 .
In addition to 4G, Expresso also plans to improve its 3G network. The site was entrusted to the technology company Huawei. Expresso promises a network “3G twice as efficient with a faster Internet connection and offers accessible to all consumers”. The company maintains that the malfunctions and other slow flows noted in the past in certain areas of the country will only be a bad memory.
The telecom company’s 2G network will also be improved during the year. According to Fatou Sow Kane, the 2G network which covered 87% of the population should increase to 90% in 2020. As for 3G, it is planned to increase the network coverage rate from 45% to 70 %.
