Ivory Coast: MainOne Announces Extension of Optical Fiber Underwater Cable and Opening of Data Center in October
At its Annual General Meeting held on April 28, 2019 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, MainOne, a company specialized in providing internet connectivity, announced the extension of its fiber-optic cable optics and the opening of its Data Center in the country next October. The remarks were made by Kazeem Oladepo, the Business Executive of MainOne of the French speaking countries of West Africa and Ghana .
Once completed, MainOne’s submarine optical fiber cable is expected to facilitate intra- and inter-regional connectivity in West Africa, while strengthening the economy of the area.
Currently, the construction of the landing station continues unhindered. As for the Data Center, it is currently under construction at the Village of Information Technologies and Biotechnology (VITIB) of Grand-Bassam.
According to MainOne, the submarine cable and Data Center will contribute to the development of the broadband ecosystem in Côte d’Ivoire and the French-speaking region through the more accessible digital services they will provide.
“By investing in this infrastructure, we hope to provide businesses with significant and critical technology solutions and enable them to improve their productivity and efficiency through dedicated and reliable connectivity services. We are ready to work with operators to increase capacity in Côte d’Ivoire and neighboring countries to strengthen regional integration and global access , “ said Oladepo.
MainOne’s investment in Côte d’Ivoire is made possible by the C1B license obtained on April 18, 2018 from the government by the company, to offer its digital services in the country.
