IAD Summit 2020 Postponed due to covid 19 and the associated international travel bans:

Following the recent and dramatic escalation in the spread of the covid 19 pandemic, which has led to an increased risk to health and well-being along with severe restrictions on international travel, Extensia have taken the difficult but necessary decision to postpone this year’s IAD (Innovation Africa Digital) Summit originally due to take place on the 6th and 7th of April.

Tariq Malik, CEO of Extensia ltd made the following announcement:We have monitored the unprecedented development of this virus and it’s impact across the World and it is now apparent that we are left with no choice but to postpone the IAD summit until later this year. We have had extensive discussions our host partner, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MiNT), Ethiopia and we have jointly reached the decision to postpone this year’s IAD Summit until the 29th and 30th of September. We believe that by this time, the worst of the risk to health and well-being will be over and we hope that a sense of normality will have resumed. We will of course be re-assessing developments continuously. Whilst our thoughts and best wishes are with all of those people affected by the ill effects of the covid 19 virus, we hope that you will stay safe and follow guidelines set out by the medical experts. We are entering an un-chartered era and whilst none of us can predict the future we remain hopeful for a swift resolution and a healthy recovery to this global pandemic.”

IAD 2020 had an incredible speaker line up, was on track to attract Africa’s ICT leaders for two full days of high level engagement and inter-action. The summit was set to celebrate the liberalisation of Ethiopia’s ICT sector and the acceleration of national ICT agendas across Africa. These objectives will be fulfilled later in the year on the revised dates but in the mean-time, Extensia will use digital channels to support the discussions and connections between stakeholders. Stay tuned for further announcements!
