Guinea is taking one more step towards its digital sovereignty through the construction of its very first national data center. The work which started on September 16 will last 8 months. The technological infrastructure will contribute to securing a set of public and private information.

The Prime Minister of Guinea, Ibrahima Kassory Fofana, launched on September 16, 2020 the construction works of the very first national data center of the country. The infrastructure that will store, protect and ensure rapid access to information will be deployed over an area of ​​800 m² on the Koloma plateau. Construction will take 8 months.

The Prime Minister indicated “that with the landing of the submarine cable which has linked Guinea to the whole world since 2012, the construction on the national territory of a data center will complete our architecture to enter fully. foothold in the 4th industrial revolution. Its commissioning will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the various players in the country’s economic life ”.

According to the head of government, this infrastructure will ultimately contribute to “the modernization of our administration through a cyber-administration solution including data archiving; ensuring secure and reliable transactions for the private sector, including mobile payments, e-commerce, reservation management and other customer transactions; increased preservation of the privacy of individuals and citizens through more effective protection of personal data  ”.

For Oumar Saïd Koulibaly, Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Digital Economy, the data center ”  that we are building is a physical infrastructure that will unite security and performance and will serve to organize, process, store and store in an optimal way and secure the important and complex computer data flows of public administration, professionals and individuals, offering a high level of service quality. This will mark the first condition of our protection and our digital sovereignty ”.
