During the meeting, the Minister expressed strong support for GVA’s proposed affordable pricing model, describing it as a revolutionary step that aligns with the government’s goal of expanding digital inclusion and reducing data costs nationwide.

The Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations has announced that Minister Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP) held a meeting with executives of Group Vivendi Africa (GVA) to discuss the company’s upcoming commercial launch of high-speed fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) internet services in Ghana.

During the meeting, the Minister expressed strong support for GVA’s proposed affordable pricing model, describing it as a revolutionary step that aligns with the government’s goal of expanding digital inclusion and reducing data costs nationwide. He pledged to engage the Minister for Energy and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to help resolve challenges related to infrastructure access, ensuring a smooth rollout of the project.

Hon. Nartey George further encouraged GVA to submit a formal proposal detailing its investment model, service plan, and areas where ministerial assistance may be required. He also suggested exploring a partnership with Canal+ to bundle high-speed broadband services with premium content streaming, potentially transforming Ghana’s pay-TV and internet service landscape.

The Minister assured the delegation of the government’s commitment to supporting credible investors who are contributing to the development of the country’s digital infrastructure and promoting greater connectivity for citizens.

Mr. Jean-François Dubois, Chief Executive Officer of Group Vivendi Africa, outlined the company’s vision of providing affordable, unlimited broadband connectivity to Ghanaian households. He emphasized that GVA, a subsidiary of the Canal+ Group, already operates in nine African countries and intends to replicate its successful mass-market fibre model in Ghana, beginning with Accra and Kumasi.
