The National Information Technology Agency has strengthened the security of the government’s various digital platforms. Through the Security Operations Center, it can now effectively prevent, detect, analyze and respond to cybersecurity incidents.

The digital platforms of the different government departments now enjoy additional IT security provided by the Security Operations Center (SOC). A new facility launched last week in Accra by the National Information Technology Agency (NITA).

According to Communications Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the SOC will improve operational engagement and efficiency between the NITA Computer Emergency Response Team (NITA-CERT) and the National Response Team of computer emergency in Ghana (CERT-GH).

”  With its advanced analysis and correlation technology to recognize threats, the SOC will help identify patterns and prioritize issues for optimized resource and threat management,  ” noted the Minister.

CERT-GH believes that the implementation of the SOC will improve the state of security on government digital platforms by effectively preventing, detecting, analyzing and responding to cybersecurity incidents.

The body says malware-based attacks constitute a large proportion of all cybersecurity incidents reported by ministries and other government agencies nationwide.
