Angola Telecom’s infrastructure management tender going ahead
An international public tender for a sub-concession to manage and develop Angola Telecom’s metropolitan and national transport backbone network is proceeding, with a deadline of 10 November 2021 for bidders to submit their proposals, Valor Economico reports. The newspaper added that participants in the tender must commit USD50,000 alongside a deposit equivalent to 5% of the investment value of the proposal.
The Angolan government decided to launch the tender in June, under a plan to attract private sector expertise, with the chosen company also expected to train staff at the state-backed telco, under a wider strategy to ‘make the public business sector more dynamic and profitable’. A presidential order approving the procedure noted that the planned private-public partnership aims to take advantage of the skills and funds of national or foreign investors.
