Angola moves closer to Finland to benefit from expertise in broadband and ICT
Angolan Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technologies, José Carvalho Da Rocha, and Finnish Minister of Transport and Communications, Sanna Marin, have agreed on a collaboration between the two countries in broadband and information and communication technologies. The agreement on this cooperation was signed last week during a working visit to Helsinki by an Angolan delegation headed by the Angolan minister.
According to José Carvalho Da Rocha, “the challenge for the new Angola is to provide quality and affordable services, to build the infrastructure that will connect cities with fiber optics – we have about 65% of the country integrated – and to develop a space program to cover the territory by satellite “. The country that relies heavily on ICT to accelerate its socio-economic development, sees the expertise of Finland, an example to copy to take advantage of new technologies and services with high added value on the horizon: 5G , Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, etc.
In addition to Finnish support for Angola’s ICT transformation, the Angolan minister also expressed the desire to see companies from this European country invest in Angola to boost its economic fabric. José Carvalho Da Rocha met with Finnish investors who want to finance ICT projects and invest in innovative tech companies and start-ups.
